NC Triangle Area Chinese Singers Club

Launched in Spring 2008 by Xiaojuan Wang, the RTP Chinese Singers Club has grown to 5 professional and 30 amateur singers. They have become a very active group in the research triangle area, attracting much attention and participation from Chinese friends. They will be at the Cary Senior Center on Saturday, February 2nd and again on April 6th from 2 pm until 4 pm. Come out to meet and hear this amazing group of performers.

Battle of the Cattle

Seebold

Helen Seebold is seen pictured with her art, part of Cow Parade NC, named Night-N-Day (aka Nadia). Night-N-Day will be auctioned to benefit UNC Children’s Hospital on February 2nd. The “Battle for the Cattle” tickets are on sale now and the auction will be held at the Raleigh Memorial Auditorium in the Progress Energy Center in Downtown Raleigh. Seebold is an established artist in Cary, NC. Her studio, Little Flower Art, holds work that has been shown all over from New York to Connecticut to our own Raleigh, NC. Check out her exhibit 101 Masks at 108 Morris Street in Durham, NC.

Living Healthy

Are you looking to turn your life around in terms of health?
Cary Senior Center is offering a six week class series called Living Healthy.
Learn how to deal with fatigue, frustration, isolation, pain, etc.
You will also be taught how to properly manage your medications, eat healthy, effective communication skills and so much more.
This class is looking for seniors who will be willing to participate for this free series.
Meetings are every Thursday from 9 am until 11:30 am staring January 31st. See you there!

The Hunger Games

Every Saturday, the Cary Senior Center shows a recent blockbuster film for free. The two showings are from 9:30 am until Noon and the other is 1 pm until 3:30 pm. Stick around after the movie to have a discussion with the rest of the group on what you thought about the show. The movie for January is The Hunger Games. The Hunger Games is about a televised event in which children from the different districts must compete against one another until there is only one survivor. Katniss Everdeen volunteers to go in the place of her younger sister who is chosen to compete. The genre is Action/Adventure/Sci-Fi. PG-13.

Introduction to SeniorNet

This class is a computer training program that will teach you all about the other programs offered to seniors at the Cary Senior Center. Learn about up coming classes and workshops that you might be interested in partaking in. The program will also teach you about the National SeniorNet program, helping you schedule classes that are at the best time for you. Come to classroom 302 on Thursday, January 10th starting at 1:30 pm for this free meeting. Tell your friends to come along too!

Aerobics, Seniors in Motion

This fitness class for seniors is one of the most popular offered through the Cary Senior Center! This complete workout benefits cardiovascular, strength and flexibility! Cover every aspect of fitness while having a great time with friends both old and new! Come out to Herbert C. Young Community Center on Tuesday, January 8th to start classes. Walking for Wellness and Fun

Get on your walking shoes and face that winter weather head on! From 9 am until 10:30 am join us at Bond Park Community Center for an open gym format walk workout (yes, that is quite a mouth full!). This event is free and open to the public, but you must be 16+ to participate. Walks take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays, January 3rs through June 13th. You can join us at any time, you don’t have to come to every session. If you are interesting in additional walking opportunities, then please call the number below for more information.
