Tips for Senior Citizens in Cary, NC
One of the easiest methods of transportation for all citizens of the Town of Cary is the C-Tran. It offers six fixed routes operating from 6am to 8pm (peak hours are 6 to 9am and 3pm to 8pm) Monday through Saturday. Cost for riders 12 and over is $1 per one-way trip. However, if registered seniors show Medicare cards, one-way trips cost only $.50 (from 9pm to 3pm).
Door-to-door services are available for registered seniors 60 and over or disabled. Regular trips for this service are offered from 7am to 7pm Monday through Saturday. For reservations, call (919) 481-2020. Reservations can be made up to two weeks before the date of the trip, it is recommended that the reservation be made at least 24 hours in advance to guarantee a seat.
There are three types of non-fixed transportation offered by the C-Tran system:
Trips within 3/4 mile of the fixed routes, $2 one way.
Trips not wholly within 3/4 of fixed route, but still within Town of Cary limit, $4 one way.
Out of town trips (Raleigh, Durham, Apex, Morrisville, Chapel Hill), $6 one way.
Note: Discount fares of $1 per one-way trip are provided during off-peak hours (10 a.m. to 3 p.m.) for Tier I and Tier II trips only.
C-Tran does not operate on most holidays, Door-to-door service does not operate on Town of Cary holidays, and follows the Wake County Public School System policy for inclement weather. Fore more general information on the C-Tran, contact:
